Timbuktu Libraries in Exile

mechanicaljacobin:

The preservation of knowledge, of our shared history and culture, is really important to me. Please spread the word and give if you can.

I’m kind of upset that I found out about it so late, but this campaign is in its final 48 hours and still needs a lot of help. Working in an archive this past year has shown me not only the importance of proper preservation, but the joy it can bring people when they find something of importance to them in something that the average person could view as an obscure source.

Donate if you can!

One senior member of a leading national magazine when asked how someone could pay the bills to affording life in New York while working a full-time internship famously told us that if we couldn’t pull an unpaid internship off, then we didn’t want to succeed badly enough. When we asked how he pulled it off, he told us about how he lived in his parents’ spare apartment upstate while working his internship.

Unpaid internships and a culture of privilege are ruining journalism

Gerard Way’s Batman sketches. [x]

Sorry for the drooling…..

I seriously want this as a real book that I could buy. These designs are amazing, and I would just love to read a story written by Gerard that would go with his art style…

Gerard has become one of my favorite story-tellers, and this is coming from a woman that over 3 years ago would run screaming in the other direction if you even mentioned MCR.

I need this comic like I need water and air, guys.

If you want to read some of Gerard’s stuff, check out The Umbrella Academy.
